1. Enrolment Procedure
Once the school has received a student’s enrolment application (on-line, by fax,post, or e-mail) a booking confirmation and an invoice for fees will be sent to the student or agent.
2. Payment of Fees
We recommend earlier payment if you need to apply for a visa. Registration, placement and accommodation fees must be paid with tuition fees.
Fees can be paid by bank transfer to our Public Trust account at Public Trust SEAFIELD SCHOOL OF ENGLISH LTD, account number 02 0536 0305865 01, Reference Number: 9363742TR01, SWIFT: BKNZNZ22. Receipt of payment will be acknowledged by the school.
3. Arrival & Departure Transfers
Please advise the school of your flight arrival & departure details at least 7 days in advance.
4. Accommodation
Homestays and other forms of accommodation can be arranged by the school through trusted partners. All accommodation arranged by Seafield is inspected for suitability.
Homestays provide a single room with half board or full board. (Full board includes a packed lunch on school days.)
Host family details will be provided after fees have been received by the school. Other accommodation bookings may require credit card details to confirm.
Students requesting to extend their homestay or other accommodation must apply and pay the fees at least 2 weeks in advance. (Extensions are subject to availability.)
Students may not make direct payment arrangements with a Seafield-arranged host family.
The school must receive 2 weeks’ notice of a student’s intention to withdraw from a homestay. A full refund of unused homestay fees will be given.
5. Course Withdrawal and Refunds
Students withdrawing before commencing a Seafield course will be given a full refund of fees less the registration and homestay placement fees.
Students withdrawing within the first two days of a course less than 5 weeks: 50% refund of course and registration fees. Students withdrawing within the first five days of a course of 5 weeks or more, but less than 3 months: 75% refund of course and registration fees. International students withdrawing within the first ten working days of a course longer than 12 weeks: Full refund of fees less a deduction for costs incurred by the school, up to a maximum of 25% of the total fee paid. (Seafield will provide details of the cost components for the purpose of working out the maximum deductible percentage.
In the event of a dispute over the cost component deducted, you can refer the matter to the Student Complaints. In any other circumstances, there is no refund of fees.
6. The minimum age of entry to Seafield is 14 years.
7. All exam preparation and EAP classes run subject to minimum numbers.
8. Seafield School of English shall not be liable if services offered by the school cannot be provided for reasons beyond the school’s control.
9. Students are expected to attend classes punctually, and to behave in a responsible manner at the school and in homestays.
Students must also obey the laws of New Zealand. Seafield School of English reserves the right to suspend or terminate a student’s course or homestay for reasons such as misconduct, illness, etc. In such instances, refund of study fees shall be at the discretion of the school.
10. Determining a student’s class level is at the sole discretion of the school.
11. Seafield School of English reserves the right to alter its fees.
12. Government Notices
Work Rights: Seafield has a Category One rating from NZQA. Students holding a student visa for a course of 14 weeks or longer may work part-time (up to 20 hours per week) while studying at the school.
Immigration: Full details of immigration requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available from Immigration New Zealand, and can be viewed on their website at www.immigration.govt.nz.
Code: Seafield School of English has agreed to observe and be bound by (Education) the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. Copies of the Code are available from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority’s website at www.nzqa.govt.nz.
Eligibility for Health Services: Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website at www. moh.govt.nz.
Accident Insurance: The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the ACC website at www.acc.co.nz.
Medical and Travel Insurance: International students (including group students) must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while in New Zealand.
Seafield considers the Southern Cross Student insurance to be appropriate. View www.orbitprotect.com for details.
Student Fee Protection: Fees paid to Seafield School of English, including accommodation, are protected by an arrangement which has been accepted by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority as meeting the requirements of the Education Act 1989 and the Student Fee Protection Rules 2013.

Privacy Act: In supplying information to Seafield School of English you will be consenting to your information being (i) disclosed to Government agencies as required by law, (ii) used by the School for education and personal safety purposes, and (iii) used for all necessary communications should you require essential or urgent medical treatment.
Driving in New Zealand: To drive in New Zealand you must have a New Zealand driver’s licence, an International Driving Permit (IDP) or a driving licence from your home country with a New Zealand Government-approved English language translation of your driver’s licence.

Points to Note
When packing your clothes for the trip, remember that New Zealand has a climate similar to Europe, though the winters are less severe. Don’t forget the seasons here are the reverse of those in the Northern Hemisphere. Our summer runs from December to February. June, July and August are our winter months. Ensure you bring warm clothing for winter (coat, gloves, hat and footwear suitable for wet weather).
Textbooks, library books and practice test papers are freely lent to students during their course. Seafield schools freely provide library, computer facilities and wi-fi for student use.
Be certain to bring sufficient spending money to New Zealand for items such as bus fares to and from school and recreational activities. We recommend you allow NZ$160 per week for personal expenses.
First day of school: Please report to school by 9:00am. You will need to bring a pen, a notebook, your own language/English dictionary, your passport, a copy of the invoice/receipt from your agent (if one has been provided) and evidence of your medical and travel insurance, if this has not been arranged by the school. (We will need to see your insurance policy to verify what the insurance covers and when it expires.)
